Join Liz Oakley, the Gibson's Art Studio Lead, for a workshop using textures and shapes gathered around Burnaby Mountain!
Sunday, March 29, 1 PM to 4 PM
in the Tuey Art Studio at the Gibson Art Museum and outdoors.
Free with registration. Limited space. All materials provided.
Registration closes Friday, March 27.
In this workshop, we will use printmaking and collaging to explore the different surfaces and shapes of Burnaby Mountain. While exploring indoor and outdoor locations, we’ll use methods such as pastel rubbings, clay imprints, and tracing on paper to collect impressions of textures and patterns we notice in our environment.
Back in the studio, we’ll experiment with printmaking, using some of our collected impressions and found materials.
Finally, we’ll transform these elements into a collage of an imagined or remembered place, taking inspiration from works currently on view at the museum. Participants will leave with a finished or in-progress collage, and a collection of materials to use in continued explorations.
