Walter Benjamin
Walter Benjamin (1892-1940) was a German Jewish intellectual who has made enduring contributions as a literary critic, philosopher, sociologist, translator, and essayist. Many years after his tragic death, he reappeared in Ljubljana in 1986 to give the lecture Mondrian ’63 - ’96. Subsequent activities include publishing a theses, giving interviews, and co-curating the exhibition What is Modern Art? at the Kunsthaus Bethanien in Berlin (2006).
